Yvonne Jegede On The Importance Of Appearance In Nollywood

Nigerian actress Yvonne Jegede emphasizes that appearance plays a crucial role in Nollywood.

She believes that a good image can significantly impact an actor’s career, influencing how audiences perceive them and opening doors to more opportunities in the industry.

For Yvonne, maintaining a polished and attractive look is an essential aspect of her success and professionalism in Nollywood.

Speaking in an interview with Hip TV, Jegede said, “There are so many things actors can rely on. It’s not just looks. But then again, looks is very important because it’s showbiz. It’s what you show people that’s what brings business so appearance matters a lot.

“However, a lot of people have been able to get roles by doing other things. Not necessarily looks. But if you want to rely on your looks, if that’s your best foot, bring it forward. I mean, it happens in every other industry.”

On the issue of payment in Nollywood, Jegede said, “It depends on your milestone and it depends on the dues you’ve paid. I believe if you’ve been here long enough and you’ve paid your dues, you will definitely be paid your worth.

“I can’t speak for everybody, but for me, Nollywood pays the bills. Not all the bills, but it does pay the bills. So, I’m very good. I’m very happy with where we are now in Nollywood compared to before.”

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
