A 25-year-old man stunned the world by announcing his intention to marry his 85-year-old lover.
Muima met his elderly lover, Thereza when searching for a place to live while pursuing his education.
He and his friends ended up in Thereza’s house in Kenya, where they made rent payments and moved in.
The two became close, and she playfully referred to him as her spouse, which he also didn’t take seriously, but as time passed, both began to fall in love.
The 25-year-old man said, “The way she behaved and treated (me) pushed me to love her, and though she is an old woman, and in reality, she could be my grandmother but I love her.”
He recalled a day when his colleague was not around and he was hungry and without food at his rented home. Thereza came to his rescue with a meal before asking for a kiss, which he gladly accepted.
Even with Thereza’s age, the couple played and traveled together, strengthening their relationship.
He said, “This is my choice. This is my happiness, as anyone else has theirs. Before pleasing others, first, please yourself and decide not based on anyone else’s opinions.”
According to the grandmother, she has grandkids who are older than Muima, but she sees no shame in expressing her feelings for him.
“I have eight children and 20 grandchildren. According to my boyfriend’s age, he could be my fifth grandchild. He loves me and I love him. I am ready to put on the wedding dress and ring,” she said.
Thereza’s children demanded 12 cows from Muima as the bride price for their mother and he has agreed to pay it.
He claimed that he fell in love with Thereza after a string of turbulent relationships.
“I’ll never choose any girl over this one. I pray she won’t die before me,” the 25-year-old man said.
The 85-year-old lover is open to the possibility of starting a family with her youthful partner. She claims that there are examples of old women, giving birth in the Bible, which gives her hope.
