In recognition of this year’s Eid ul Mawlid, which celebrates the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), the Federal Government has declared Tuesday, August 25, 2026, a day off for the public.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who extended warm greetings to Muslims across Nigeria and the global diaspora. The official statement was signed by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.
Minister Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of using this occasion to reflect on the virtues exemplified by Prophet Muhammad—particularly compassion, humility, and dedication to serving others. He urged Nigerians to take this time to embody these qualities.
“Eid ul Mawlid serves as a reminder for us to learn from a life characterized by kindness, humility, and altruism,” the minister remarked. “These are values that our country needs now more than ever. I encourage everyone, regardless of faith, to contemplate and adopt these principles.”
We sincerely wish all Muslims celebrating Eid Ul Mawlid a joyful and peaceful holiday. May this special day bring spiritual renewal, happiness, and harmony into your lives. Eid Mubarak!
Live with Purpose, Love with Passion. Remember to be happy
