Due to media reports of alleged graft, the Association of Amateur Football Clubs of Cameroon (ACFAC) has demanded an investigation into the Cameroonian Football Federation and its leader, Samuel Eto’o.
In relation to a friendly game between the two nations in October 2023, Eto’o has been charged with improperly accepting a payment from the Russian Football Federation.
ACFAC claims that the Russian Football Union transferred about 567,000 euros ($654,000) into a bank account that did not belong to the Cameroonian federation FECAFOOT, in violation of the terms of their contract.
The association also declared that it would file a separate legal complaint in Russia against the Russian Football Union and a lawsuit in Cameroonian courts against former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker Eto’o.
Eto’o defended struggling FIFA president Gianni Infantino last month, claiming he “hasn’t done anything wrong” in spite of growing pressure to resign over a contentious World Cup sell-off plan.
