Woman Dies After Slumping During Church Prayer Session

Bisi Adewumi, 75, died after collapsing during a prayer session at the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries in the Ibafo area of Ogun State.

The worshipper was later claimed to have died while seeking treatment at a government hospital in Sagamu.

According to the police, the incident was reported to its Ibafo division on Friday, November 3, 2023, by the Head of Security, Pastor Ekikere Esiere, who is connected to the prayer city located along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Pastor Esiere stated that the deceased was transported to the church clinic for medical assistance after collapsing about 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Following that, the deceased was claimed to have been sent to the Sagamu General Hospital, where she was eventually pronounced dead while undergoing treatment on Friday.

Omolola Odutola, a spokesperson for the State Police Command, confirmed the event on Saturday, saying the corpse had been deposited at the hospital morgue.

“No relatives of the deceased had come to claim the body yet. She’s suspected to be a 75-year-old woman. In the meantime, the investigation is still ongoing,” the PPRO said.
