In a statement released on Saturday, December 30, Onogwu Mohammed, the Chief Press Secretary to State Governor Yahaya Bello, verified the news. He stated that the victims were transported to an undisclosed location amidst the deep forest surrounding the state’s Ajaokuta Local Government Area.

He said the perpetrators of this reprehensible act must also be fished out,” the statement read.

“The directive underscored Governor Bello’s unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of the citizens/residents under his charge.”

According to the CPS, the United Security Forces’ efforts generated results within 48 hours, resulting in the liberation of the 21 hostages.

“Furthermore, the operation led to the apprehension of some of the kidnappers, while those still at large are being trailed,” he added.
