Dos And Don’ts For DIY Face Masks

Using a face mask as part of your routine benefits the skin only if you’re doing it right. There are a few errors you’re making that are delaying your results.
Face masks are quick and effective ways to treat your skin. They give your skin a good glow and leave your skin soft and smoother. Although they can take time when used alone, think of them as skincare boosters.

Here are some ways you can take advantage of a facial mask:

DO’S:
• Test your face masks on a small skin area for allergic reactions.
• Leave the mask on for 10 to 30 minutes. This allows ingredients to penetrate your skin. For example. You can apply the mask before bathing.
• Cleanse your face before applying a mask. This helps the mask penetrate the skin better. You can also use the mask on days you want to use an exfoliator
• Apply a moisturizer after washing off the mask.
• Use face masks according to your skin type. If you have dry skin, choose a hydrating mask to make your skin supple.
• Make sure your hands are clean before mixing up a DIY face mask

DON’TS:
• Don’t use the same type of face mask every other day. This is because the face can suffer from multiple issues at the same time
• Don’t use a mask if you experience skin irritation
• Don’t use too many ingredients in one mask. Keep it simple
• Don’t apply a mask every night. Only apply once or twice a week.
• Don’t use different face masks at the same time or on the same day. Rather, space out your application time.
• Don’t leave the mask on for too long, or else you could irritate your skin.
• Don’t sleep with a mask on
• Don’t scrub your skin when washing off the mask. This can cause irritation and redness.

Face masks are the go-to regime especially before that emergency appointment the following day. You are sure to start getting noticeable results with these directives. Take your time to do research on the ingredients you want to use.
