Former President Goodluck Jonathan‘s Wife Speaks On His 2027 Presidencial Bid

Nigerian former First Lady; Dame Patience Jonathan has declared that her husband; Goodluck Jonathan will not run for president in 2027.

It’s official! Ex-President Jonathan dumps PDP for APC

According to Patience, Jonathan has held Nigeria’s top political position and has no plans to run for politics again.

Speaking at the Greater Igbo Forum in Abuja, the former First Lady mentioned that Jonathan had served in several important political roles. She gave her word that the outgoing president was determined to back President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.

Patience Jonathan claims: “My husband has reached the pinnacle of political office. What is he looking for again? We are not going in again.”

Additionally, she urged the Igbo people to band together and concentrate on the common good rather than personal or political differences.

“We should love this country more than ourselves. Because if you don’t love this country, what is the future of our children?” she queried.

The Peoples Democratic Party, which is in opposition, has endorsed the proposal for former President Goodluck Jonathan to run for president in 2027. There have been increasing rumors in the last few weeks that northern politicians and elites are dissatisfied with President Bola Tinubu’s administration and are quietly hoping for a shift of power in the upcoming election.

“If you are talking about a southern presidency in 2027, we should be looking at one who had enjoyed one term and will probably give Nigerians hope and prosperity as opposed to the one we have in power,” said Ibrahim Abdullahi, the PDP’s deputy national publicity secretary in response to an exclusive interview with The PUNCH.

“Secondly, if you are also talking about a nationalist, somebody who would not rig an election to keep himself in office, who announced before the counting process was over, that he lost, it has to be Jonathan.

“You remember that he called the victor, congratulated him, and asked him to send people for the transition process. So, it is this kind of person with a listening ear that we believe can save the situation. No President in Nigerian history has been as criticized as Ebele Jonathan. We tolerated all sorts of insults targeted at us and his Presidency. But today, he is the one everybody is looking for with torchlight, even in broad daylight.”

Gentle Reminder: Be careful how you use your authority and influence, be wise, and treat others with respect.
