Andy Murray Announced His Retirement At The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris

English tennis player Andy Murray, who won a gold medal in the 2024 Olympics in Paris, has decided to formally retire from the game.

The 37-year-old declared that his 19-year career would come to an end in the Olympics, calling it his last competition.

Murray announced his departure on Thursday by writing, “Never even liked tennis anyway,” in a tweet on his official Twitter (X) account.

In his most recent encounter, Murray and Brit Dan Evans played in the Roland Garros men’s doubles quarterfinals.

Murray competed in the doubles but withdrew from the tennis singles at the Olympics in Paris. He thought that the men’s doubles, in which he and Evans are competing, offered his best chance of another medal.

“I’ve taken the decision to withdraw from the singles to concentrate on the doubles with Dan,” said the British former world number one.

Congratulations on your retirement and enjoy the world of possibilities ahead of you!
