He urged President Muhammadu Buhari and the Bauchi state governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, to act quickly to address the issue.

High cost of fertilizers will undoubtedly increase to the cost of food items after farming,” Boko asserted. Farmers cannot grow without economical fertilizers, and so food cannot be offered at low prices.

Many farmers are unable to farm due to the high cost of fertilizers, and food prices will undoubtedly rise across the country.

He stated that while insecurity in the North prevents farmers from going to their farms or harvesting what they have previously sown, people carrying food goods like palm oil from the South are scared to come to the North owing to the security situation.

He warned that unless the government intervenes swiftly, the country may face a food crisis by the conclusion of the crop season.
