Buhari Returns To Twitter After 11 Months (See Tweets)

President Muhammadu Buhari has resumed tweeting after an 11-month absence owing to Nigeria’s ban on Twitter.

After the president’s tweets on vowing to treat members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the “language they understand” was deleted by Twitter, the Buhari administration banned the social media platform.

The prohibition was issued on June 4, 2021, and was removed seven months later on January 13, 2022.

Following the ban, the President ceased using Twitter to communicate with the Nigerian citizens.

Buhari didn’t return to the platform until today, May 2, after the ban was removed and several lawmakers and their aides returned.

Buhari expressed his warmest wishes to Muslims celebrating Eid-el-Fitr in his first tweet in 11 months, while also addressing the country’s insecurity.

His last tweet was on June 1, 2021, before he started tweeting today.

Take a look at his tweets below.
