As a result of a landlord’s missing plantain, five students from the University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom were detained.
A man, with the username ‘Oga Yenne’ on Facebook, disclosed the incident on his page while requesting help.

He said, “Uyo landlord arrests all tenants(all students) at Ikpa lanes becos of missing plantain in the Compd. They’re all detained now at Barracks Rd. Who can help them mbok?”
According to reports, the students were arrested at the supposed request of their landlord on Tuesday morning, March 29.
However, in the most recent development, a businessman, Saviour Udoh, claimed to have arranged the students’ release.
Mr. Udoh said, “I’ve succeeded in securing BAIL as their SURETY for the five (5) students of the University of Uyo who were arrested earlier this morning by their landlord. I want to specially thank the Dean of students affairs, University of Uyo for his swift response, the SUG president & vice for their support, presence, and solicitation too.
“40% of people in Police Custody is because they lack people to stand in and solicit for their freedom. If you have the opportunity to help, please help.”
