Female Student Kidnapped In KWASU By Unknown Gunmen

Gunmen have kidnapped a female student from the Kwara State University, Malete, and taken her hostage.

In Malete, the victim, who is known as Isiaq Khadeejah, a 300-level student at the university, was abducted on Sunday afternoon.

The abductors have demanded a ransom of N50 million from her, according to the Daily Post.

According to the information gathered, the victim was going along the street with her pals when the incident occurred.

Following the development, Abdulrazaq Sanni, Director of University Relations, who confirmed the incident, stated that the administration and the entire university community were shocked to learn of “the shocking news about Isiaq Khadeejah, a student of Mass Communications, who reportedly was kidnapped on Sunday, August 22, 2021, along Okoru Road in Malete.”

He stated that “the management is working assiduously with relevant security operatives to secure the release of Khadeejah, ensure that the culprits are brought to book and also provide adequate security on the campus.”

Police Commissioner Mohammed Lawal Bagega, together with IGP Response Team, has been dispatched to Malete to work in coordination with the local vigilantes and other relevant agencies to rescue the victim, according to a statement released by the institution’s press office.

Professor Mohammed Mustapha Akanbi (SAN), Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, has asked the university community to be more security vigilant, to report weird or suspicious actions to the relevant authorities, and to avoid staying up late on weekends and public holidays.

He stated that measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of students and staff members as well as the protection of their personal belongings.

Officials from the school were conducting a security gathering in association with the incident at the state Ministry of Education headquarters in Ilorin at the time of reporting this story.

Upon being contacted, Mr. Okasanmi Ajayi, spokesman for the state police command, stated that “the story is news to the command, all the same, efforts will be exerted to rescue the victim.”
