Kylian Mbappe, a French star, has until midnight to exercise an option to extend his PSG contract by one year. If he chooses not to do so, the Ligue 1 team is expected to sell him.
Mbappe, 24, appeared to commit his future to the club until 2025 when he signed a new contract with PSG last summer.
The first two years of the three-year pact were set aside, with Mbappe having the option to extend for a third year.
After notifying PSG in writing that he didn’t want to activate the option, Mbappe started a new transfer odyssey last month.
The forward stated that the team was informed of his choice the previous year.

“PSG has been informed since July 15, 2022, of my decision not to extend beyond 2024, and the letter that was sent only served to confirm what I had already told them,” Mbappe said in a statement to AFP.
The decision-making opportunity to exercise the option closes at midnight.
The attacker must either be sold this summer or lost on a free transfer in 11 months after Mbappe confirmed his decision to let the clause expire.
Beginning in January 2024, Mbappe will be free to speak with and sign a pre-contract agreement with non-French clubs.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of PSG, is adamant about not letting his prized asset leave the team for nothing next summer.
“My position is very clear,” he said earlier this month. “I don’t want to repeat it every time: if Kylian wants to stay, we want him to stay. But he needs to sign a new contract.
“We don’t want to lose the best player in the world for free, we can’t do that. This is a French club.
“He said he would never leave for free. If he changes his mind today, it’s not my fault. We don’t want to lose the best player in the world for free, that’s very clear.”
