Liverpool Investigates Manchester City’s Allegations Of Spat From A Fan

Manchester City have lodged a complaint with Liverpool, claiming that a fan spat on their technical staff during the 2-2 draw at Anfield in the English Premier League on Sunday, media reported.

Sky Sports said Liverpool had opened an investigation into the incident.

City coach Pep Guardiola said he was not aware of the incident when it happened but his assistant staff later informed him of the matter.

Guardiola told Sky Sports after the match: “I don’t know what happened. I heard something from the fans. It wasn’t something nice about the assistive device, but I don’t know exactly what happened.”

He added: “I am absolutely sure that if that happened, Liverpool would definitely take action against this person. Liverpool is much bigger than this act.”

He continued, “Nothing will change my admiration for this club. This is the same story of what happened two or three years ago when we came here and destroyed our bus. They are a few people, not Liverpool.”

City recovered from two goals behind and drew at Anfield thanks to goals from Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne. City are third with 14 points, ahead of Manchester United, Everton, Brighton and Hove Albion, and host Burnley after the international break on October 16.

Chelsea leads the league with 16 points, one point behind second-placed Liverpool after the end of the seventh round.
