Meghan Avoided Colourful Clothes Fearing Conflict With Queen, Camilla, And Kate

The Duchess of Sussex admitted she abstained from wearing bright clothing while visiting the UK out of concern for upsetting Queen Elizabeth II and other more senior female royals.

Meghan stated that she selected “muted tones” of beige, white, and camel so she could blend in.

When the duchess started attending royal events, she became known for her elegant, traditional appearance, although her color choice was usually attributed to her favored fashion sense.

“Most of the time that I was in the UK, I rarely wore colour,” she said.

“There was thought in that. To my understanding, you can’t ever wear the same colour as Her Majesty if there’s a group event.

“But then you also shouldn’t be wearing the same colour as one of the other more senior members of the family. So I was like well, what’s a colour that they’ll probably never wear?

“Camel, beige, white? So I wore a lot of muted tones but it also was so I could just blend in. Like I’m not trying to stand out here. There’s no version of me joining this family and trying to not do everything I could to fit in. I don’t want to embarrass the family.”

Meghan made an appearance at an awards event in New York earlier this week while donning an off-the-shoulder white dress with a light gray pullover.

The other female royals who were older than Meghan included the Princess Royal, who is older by birth, as well as the Queen Consort and the Princess of Wales, as they are now known.

Why Meghan did not ask her advisers to consult other members of the royal family or their dressers about what their plans were for their wardrobes—or even to contact Camilla and Kate directly—will undoubtedly be questioned.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
