N113M Worth Constituency Empowerment Projects Tracked By ICPC In Ondo State

According to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, empowerment items given out to rural women in the Owo/Ose and Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituencies of Ondo State were tracked.

The items, which were valued at N113.5 million, were distributed as part of the Constituency Project Empowerment Programs.

The items identified included 75 grinding machines, 95 hairdryers, 100 barb clippers, and 68 sewing machines, all of which were valued at N18.2 million. In 2020, they were distributed at Ifon, which is located within the Ose Local Government Area.

One hundred and forty-four 2.2kva generators were distributed to small business owners in the constituency as part of a N15.8 million grant, according to the project’s track record.

The ICPC also tracked the distribution of farm implements worth N39.7 million to farmers in the Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, as well as the training and empowerment of youths in fish farming, which totaled N39.8 million.

One of the beneficiaries, Bosede Olagokun from Ifon Local Government Area, who expressed gratitude to the government for the gesture, told NAN that she was given a generator, which she is currently using at her business center.

“I am very grateful to our federal lawmaker, the generator is very useful to me because the supply of power by BEDC (Benin Electricity Distribution Company) is inadequate,“ she said.

Ronke Adeyemi, who was also a beneficiary and has 10 years of tailoring expertise, expressed gratitude for being provided with a sewing machine to help her with her career.

In his remarks, Adeyemi noted that the community had not seen a similar empowerment program in a long time and hailed the Constituency and Executive Projects as a success.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the four projects tracked by the ICPC team led by David Oluwole were part of the third phase of Constituency and Executive Project Tracking in Ondo State at the time of writing.

Additionally, according to NAN, the ICPC is tracking 1,024 constituency and executive projects in 18 states as part of the third phase of the Constituency and Executive Project Tracking initiative.

In Ondo State, 52 of the projects are located, and the tracking is being done to ensure that the money is being spent effectively.
