Nick Cannon Loses 5-month-old Son To Brain Cancer

The loss of a baby is one of the most painful events that can happen to an individual. Popular TV personality; Nick Cannon on Tuesday, tearfully revealed that his youngest child died on Sunday after battling brain cancer.

The 41-year-old rapper was very emotional as he announces his 5-month-old baby boy son’s death while dedicating Tuesday’s episode of “The Nick Cannon Show, ” to his “beautiful son Zen.”

“Over the weekend I lost my youngest son to a condition called hydrocephalus, which was a malignant, aggressive midline brain tumor, brain cancer,” Cannon said. “This is difficult.”

Hydrocephalus is “a buildup of fluid in the cavities (ventricles) deep within the brain,” according to Mayo Clinic, Excess fluid puts pressure on the brain and “can damage brain tissue and cause a number of brain problems.”

Cannon said his son was about 2 months old when he noticed that the newborn was having some breathing problem, which he initially attributed to the newborn’s sinuses. Doctors told the host that fluid had built up in Zen’s head, and the child was eventually diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.

“Immediately we had to have surgery,” Cannon said.

After subsequent surgeries and procedures, Cannon said Zen’s condition changed around Thanksgiving and the baby’s tumor began to grow rapidly. The actor said that his son succumbed to his illness on Sunday, but that time they saw the sunrise together that morning.

“This weekend I made a legitimate effort to spend the most quality time I can with Zen,” Cannon said. “Holding my son for the last time, it was a beautiful setting.”

“Usually on Sundays I handle whatever I need to handle with the family and then I fly to New York so I can be here (for the show),” Cannon said. “By the time I got in the car and was on my way to the airport, I had to turn.”

“We not only saw the sunrise but also the sunset,” he said.

Nick Cannon Agnesisika blogZen, whom Cannon shares with model Alyssa Scott, is the youngest of Canon’s children. He shares his eldest children, 10-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe, with Mariah Carey.

“I didn’t know how I was going to handle today, but I really wanted to grieve with my family,” Cannon said, pointing to his studio audience.“I prayed for the miracle of God’s power, and that’s why I am here with you today.”

Cannon and model; Alyssa Scott welcomed Zen back in June, making him Cannon’s seventh child.

Cannon will be taking some time off. A source tells ET that his show “was scheduled to have two show tapings on Monday, including a live show. Those were both unexpectedly canceled on Sunday and a pre-taped episode was aired on Monday instead.”

An additional source close to the production of the show also tells ET that “the crew and studio audience were all shocked by the devastating news.” The source says they were all “unaware of the tragic and extremely personal announcement Nick was going to make about the loss of his youngest child, Zen, during the live show this morning.”

Comforting someone who is grieving is not an easy task for there is nothing you can do that can take their pain away.

We extend our deepest sympathy to you during this time. Our prayers and blessings are with you. Take heart Cannon

“A lot of companies have chosen to downsize, and maybe that was the right thing for them. We chose a different path. Our belief was that if we kept putting great products in front of customers, they would continue to open their wallets.”
