A petroleum and cooking gas outlet, Oransonic Petrol Station, located along the Oba-Nnewi New Road in Ojoto, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, was engulfed by fire late Saturday. The incident occurred while a fuel-laden truck was being unloaded, causing panic among residents, customers, and passersby.
The fire reportedly affected the station building, four pumping units, adjoining shops, and a nearby prayer house, Nwereowe Healing Centre. A video circulating on social media showed the station ablaze as people fled the area.
The Anambra State Fire Service has confirmed the incident, stating that their men successfully put out the fire. The cause of the fire is believed to be a spark from the pumping ground during the trans-loading process.
