The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Gbadegeshin Olakunle, for allegedly def!ling and sexually grooming a kid on Kings Avenue, Ojodu Abiodun, in the Ifo Local Government Area of the state.
According to Punch, the minor’s mother noticed that her daughter stayed longer when she was sent on errands in the vicinity.
This frightened her, so she resolved to watch her movements for her own safety.
On Friday, July 19, 2024, while at work, she contacted her daughter’s school to check about the minor’s activities.
She was alerted that her daughter was absent, prompting her to leave work and go home.
When she returned home to place her on the watch, her minor appeared on the road.
After repeated interrogations, she told her mother that Olakunle reportedly enticed her into his flat twice for carnal knowledge, on June 8 and July 11.
The victim’s mother reported the incident to Ojodu Abiodun Police Division officers, who responded by visiting the suspect’s home and arresting him.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the event on Monday and stated that the victim had gone for a medical checkup.
“After the case was reported to the police, Olakunle was trailed, arrested and brought to the station for interrogation. The victim was also taken to Mirabel Centre at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for medical examination and reports,” the PPRO said.
“The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department at Eleweeran Abeokuta, for a discreet investigation.”
