The People Walking In Darkness Have Seen A Great Light

Just immediately after the circumcision and naming of the child as John, Zechariah’s voice returned back to him and he began praising God for what He has done and that which He will accomplish in the world. It seems that anyone associated with Jesus has some remarkable things happen to him or her. But these extraordinary things that happened to Zechariah should not blind us to the remarkable things that God has done for us in our lives. Be grateful to God and bear witness to God’s saving love always.

The very fact of our having life is remarkable. God keeps His promises and the Benedictus of Zechariah is an ever enduring reflection of the promises made from of old now brought into fulfillment in Jesus Christ. The birth, life, Passion and death, and Resurrection of Jesus for our salvation is a mystery that can never be fully comprehended.

As we strive this season to enter more deeply into this mystery of God’s love for us, we may ask ourselves, “What, then, am I called to be?”Do I affirm that I have been called through Baptism to be Christ like and the authority of God is over me? Do I recognize the sufferings in my life as part of the test of my unfailing loyalty and trust in God?

Well then, It’s true. our knowledge of ourselves, our brokenness and pain could cracks us wide open; and yet, through those very cracks,
the Light of the world,the Morning Star shines.

O Wisdom, 
O Lord and Ruler, 
O Root of Jesse, 
O Key of David, 
O Morning Star, 
O King of the Nations, 
O Emmanuel,
Come Lord Jesus, we are waiting.
