The Remedy For The Maladies

Hebrews 2:14-18
Mark 1:29-39

If we take a critical look at the beginning of Mark’s gospel, It seems as if Mark wants to immediately establish the fact that Jesus is the Son of God. Just after the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist in the river Jordan, he went to the desert and there he overcomes the power of the evil one. In yesterday’s gospel, he silenced the devil and casted it out of a convulsing man in the Synagogue and in today’s gospel Jesus is already seen in the spotlight to be curing many people who are sick, those who are affected by one suffering or another. Part of them that was not clean Christ wishes to restore. There is so much power coming out from Jesus that after the cure of Simon’s mother in law in the house the whole town came crowding around the door. He silenced the devils and by his word, his authority was felt. No sooner than later, together with the disciples he went on to the other towns to preach there.

Dearly beloved in Christ, there is an urgency in the message of Christ. It is ultimate statement of all times “Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand. ‘ and when we repent what do we do? We cure and care for the sick, we raise up and help those who are falling and dying till the Son of Man comes to take us to heaven. We have received the free gift of eternal life in Christ Jesus who paid the price for the expiation of our sins and the sins of the whole world. Just like today’s first reading from the letter to the Hebrews tells us that Christ took away all the powers of the devil and made us a descendant of Abraham. We are sons and daughters of Abraham through faith in Jesus Christ. The Son of God.

Our journey as Christ’s followers, therefore, offers us the grace to be ready at all times for there is a lot to be done in our missionary enterprise. There is so much charitable works that are going on that needs greater input equally there are works left undone. We need the wisdom of God to be able to put things together and make life better.

“A lot of companies have chosen to downsize, and maybe that was the right thing for them. We chose a different path. Our belief was that if we kept putting great products in front of customers, they would continue to open their wallets.”
