When we hold an all too important view of ourselves, we often lack the capacity to relate well with others. Life should teach us that we are only as important, and as indispensable to others to the same degree that they are to us. Those we truly have no need of, also truly have no need of us.
When we treat humans as trash, we are likely to have ourselves suffocated by the hostile environment that we create. He who must command the respect of others must first show himself to be full of respect. We need each other, and yet not one of us is truly indispensable. So, let us keep a humble view of ourselves.
