Father Cries As He Is Unable To Bury His Dead Son Still In The Custody Of The Kidnappers

Idris Umar, the proprietor of Tanko Salihu Islamic school Tegina, Rafi local government area of Niger State, and the father of a kidnapped child who died in captivity, has expressed his sadness at not being able to give his son a decent burial as a result of the situation.

When asked by journalists in Minna about his four children, Umar, whose four children were among the 91 children stolen on the 30th of May,2021, responded in the affirmative.

According to reports, the deceased boy was around the ages of 8 and 9 years old.

Umar stated that he believes his child’s passing was the will of God, but that he would have been happier if his child had been buried properly.

”Though I see the death of his child as God’s will, I would have been more fulfilled if the child had died at home to give him a befitting burial. I thank Allah that the other three are alive and also other children that were kidnapped. Their continued stay with the bandits was a traumatic experience for all of us”, Umar said.

“But, despite, all that happened, today everyone is happy over the release of the entire children. We thank God that all our pains and sufferings are over,” he stated.

Experiencing similar emotions, the Head Teacher of the Islamiya, Alhassan Ahmed, expressed his sorrow as well as his elation at the children’s liberation after a protracted stay in the custody of the kidnappers.

In his statement, he stated that ransoms were paid to the kidnappers to guarantee the release of the children and that the parents have no remorse about the amount of money they paid to guarantee the wellbeing and liberation of their children.

He said, “Except for the child that we lost, we thank Allah that all of them returned alive and well.”

On the amount paid as ransom, Ahmed clarified that it was the parents who paid and not the government. He said, “on the issue of ransoms payment, I meant the ones gathered by the parents, don’t mean the state government.”
