Unknown Gunmen Kills Soldier; 5 Others In Beer Parlour In The East

Unknown gunmen killed a soldier and five others in Anambra State’s Anaocha and Nnewi South Local Government Areas.

Armed with automatic rifles, cutlasses, and other lethal weapons, the terrorists broke into a military checkpoint in Agulu on Saturday and began firing on soldiers, killing one.

A source told that the gunmen conducted the operation with over three exotic cars that were allegedly seized from their victims.

According to the source, “They confronted the soldiers for over 10 minutes, causing residents of the area to scamper to safety, and after a long gun battle, the men overpowered the soldiers, and they had to withdraw.

“The assailants did not cover their faces, and they were shouting on top of their voices. We saw them; some people even tried to make videos, but everyone was afraid not to be spotted and shot.”

DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, a spokesman for the state Police Command, confirmed the checkpoint attack.

He said, “Generally speaking, any attack on any security agent is a threat to the soul of a nation. Yes, there was a shooting incident at a checkpoint in Agulu but the information is still sketchy.”

Also, there was an attack on a bar, on Friday, at around 8 p.m., as some gunmen broke into the beer parlour and began fire, murdering the owner, as well as her four customers.

Five of the victims were reportedly killed in Obiofia village, Osumenyi, Nnewi South.

The victims were influential members of the community, according to one Prince Jay who released a video of the victim’s corpses, who were enjoying themselves in the bar after returning from wedding and burial ceremonies.

DSP Tochukwu stated that an investigation into the restaurant attack was still underway.
