Tuesday, October 1, 2024 has been designated as a public holiday by the federal government in observance of the country’s 64th Independence Day.

The Federal Government’s pronouncement was made on Saturday by Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo through a statement released by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
Tunji-Ojo expressed gratitude to Nigerians both domestically and outside for this momentous occasion, praising the persevering and diligent Nigerian men and women and assuring them that their sacrifices would not go unappreciated.
He reiterated the need for Nigerians to reflect on the “labour of our heroes past and be inspired for the tasks ahead, realizing that a Nigeria of our dream can only be built when we unite.”
While wishing Nigerians a Happy Independence Day anniversary, Tunji-Ojo urged the citizens to continue to be steadfast in nation-building.
