Man Sentenced To Prison For R@ping His Friend’s Wife

A 39-year-old man in South Africa has been sentenced to ten years in prison for r@ping his friend’s wife.

The convict was convicted and sentenced by the Lydenburg Regional Court in Mpumalanga on Monday, October 28, 2024.

In order to protect the victim’s identity, the convicted r@pist’s name has been suppressed.

The court heard that in May 2022, a group of four friends, including a 44-year-old lady, gathered for drinks following a funeral in Lydenburg.

“The victim (the woman) felt tired and decided to call it a day. They all got into a car and dropped her at home. Thereafter, they went back for entertainment and the house was locked by the victim’s husband,” said Mpumalanga provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli.

The 39-year-old guy chose to go back to the residence where they had dropped off his friend’s wife, leaving his friend at the entertainment venue, the court heard during the trial.

After successfully obtaining the house keys, he entered the room where the woman was sleeping.

“It was during this time when the accused raped the victim,” said Mdhluli.

The event was then reported to the police, and the specialized family violence, child protection, and sexual offenses (FCS) unit was assigned to investigate.

An investigation was launched, which resulted in the 39-year-old guy being arrested.

“The man appeared in court on several occasions before he was convicted and, at the end, he received the 10 years direct imprisonment on Monday, October 28 2024,” said Mdhluli.

“Thanks to the Lydenburg Regional Court for ensuring that the man gets what he deserves.”

Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi, the acting provincial commissioner of police in Mpumalanga, has praised the “exceptional work” done by the prosecutors, investigators, and judges who handled the delicate case.

“We are definitely addressing the scourge of gender-based-violence and we are delighted whenever perpetrators of these heinous crimes are removed from the society for a very long time like in this case,” said Mkhwanazi.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
