All About School Life – Episode 2

So I promised in the previous episode that I would tell you about my cooking experience in school😆.

In year one, I didn’t really notice that there was a problem because when I entered FUTO, my dad kind of gave me money in excess. He (my dad) would be like “do you have this”, I would say no, then he would intentionally give me money that will buy that stuff and something will still remain (you get any😉).

So money was plenty and I didn’t need to cook. There were days I would drink 4 bottles of soft drink (sprite, in case you want to bribe me), eat meshai (bread and egg) at least twice a day, and any other junk. I only cooked on Sundays, rice, and stew as usual. Lol, Those were my glory days.

Brothers and sisters, it is not like that again, if you don’t know how to cook, I am sorry for you, everything will be in the kitchen and you will be looking at it and die of hunger. Not for girls tho, but still, some girls don’t know how to cook.

So my dad now monitors how he gives us money, if he gives you 1st of March, then the next one is coming 1st of April. Therefore you need to be WISE.

That was when I started entering the kitchen. My big problem is Jollof rice and Jollof spaghetti and I am always anxious when cooking it because my brother will also eat it too, and oga doesn’t know how to close his mouth, he must complain.

It’s either the food doesn’t have colour or taste. Sometimes it will be very soft, then my brother will just leave the food and get something else to eat. As for me, I cooked it, I have to try and eat small before throwing the rest away.

Sometimes I would be like I am not in the mood to eat rice, but the truth is that I am not in the mood to eat my ‘own’ rice.

I prefer cooking beans, it’s easier and not complicated. Sometimes yam or potato and tomato egg sauce. As for soup, e no dey waste time, 5 minutes e don done, as nothing much dey inside, na just to survive abeg.

I think my cooking problem has to do with knowing the right quantity of what I want to add to the food. And I believe kitchen experience would have solved that problem. Honestly, I never liked entering the kitchen at home. Sometimes my mum will call me to watch her as she is cooking and I will be asking myself “what am I doing here.”

But thank God for technology, YouTube is saving lives 😂😂. I will just open YouTube and check how to make egusi soup, follow the steps, put the ones (ingredients) you have and soup is ready😋.

It is well. If my wife does ‘shakara’ for me, I will beg her ooo, unless I want to eat beans till I die of frustration😂😂😂.

So that’s how it is for me in school. Tho I am better than some people, no be my own worse. Well, that will be all for now. Stay tuned for episode 3 of All About School Life only on AgnesIsika Blog. And in case you didn’t read episode one, we got you covered😉. Click here…

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
