Astroworld Survivors Recall Scenes Of Chaos At The Concert

Brian Espinoza, who spoke to press conference on Tuesday, said he was among the crowded fans who were trapped in a crush at the Astroworld Festival.

He said that “everyone’s life was on the line” as the pressure mounted during the show. Espinoza said he was pinned against a metal barrier.

“At one point my ribs were going up into the railing, basically Impulse, and I was fearing for the life of me that I wasn’t going to make it,” Espinoza said. A security guard helped him jump through the gate, and he said there were “hundreds of bodies of people already out on the floor, falling over the railing.”

Eligio Garcia, 18, told how he and his girlfriend were caught in a “vortex” of people at the start of Scott’s set.

“Just kids and people falling and people trying to reach up, like they’re reaching for you,” he said. “I actually heard people shouting, ‘Help, please help me.’”

Garcia said that he and his girlfriend were beaten up and others fell on them. They were eventually able to stand upright in the scrum, and they said that the cry for help in the crowd to show staff or executives at the end of each song went unanswered before another began.

“It’s an absolute nightmare that continues to play out in my head every night,” he said.

At least 18 lawsuits were filed in Harris County District Court in Texas related to the Astroworld tragedy that took place among a crowd of 50,000. Houston Fire Chief Samuel Pea told Granthshala that eight concertgoers were killed in the crush, and three people who were injured are still in hospital.

Ayden Cruz, who was accompanied by his friend Brianna Rodriguez — one of eight people who died — told Granthshala’s Anderson Cooper that the two were “in the circle of people who followed us” and were about to stumble.

“The ripple effect of the crowd going back and forth, pushed us on our backs, and as it happened, people started falling over us and it became hard to get the wind and so much weight on both of us,” said Cruz, another of his Dude” also fell on his back and people fell on us. It was really scary.”

“We are looking at the roles that everyone has played, whether there are missteps, setbacks, gaps that may exist,” Turner said, adding that he is not ruling out anything.

The mayor said they were also investigating complaints from fire officials that there were failures in communication as the deadly crowds escalated.
Pea told Granthshala on Tuesday that firefighters stationed outside the Astroworld venue were not in radio communication with emergency medical providers hired by the concert’s organizers.

According to the president of the city’s firefighters union, Houston Fire officials on standby near the venue had asked concert organizers for a radio to communicate with the emergency medical provider company, but only provided cellphone numbers. Were.

Attendees after the concert have said they were unable to text or make calls due to poor cell service.

Upon learning of the crush, the fire department sent its resources to the crowd, saying that while 12 “very serious” victims were eventually taken, CPR was in progress in many cases.

Turner said Live Nation has handed over some video footage of the incident to Houston police and they are hoping to get more as the criminal investigation progresses.

Harris County Judge Lena Hidalgo is considering an outside law firm or other third party to conduct an independent investigation into the tragedy, according to her spokeswoman.
