Dani Alves Faces 12 Years In Prison Over Alleged S*xual Assault

Dani Alves, a Brazilian football player, is scheduled to stand trial in October or November of this year and could spend up to 12 years in prison for an alleged s*xual assault at a nightclub in Barcelona.

The 40-year-old Alves has been detained at Brians 2 since January 20 after a 23-year-old woman accused him of s*xually assaulting her in a restroom at the renowned Sutton club.

The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain player will stay in jail after having many requests to be released on remand denied.

The judges of Barcelona’s high court rejected the most recent appeal.

According to Marca, there are worries that if Dani Alves were released, he may leave the nation and return to his native Brazil, which doesn’t extradite its residents.

A trial date has already been set for Alves’ case, according to a new article from El Periodico. The exact times have not yet been confirmed in the paper.

Alves could receive a sentence of six to twelve years if found guilty thanks to the Law on the Guarantee of Secular Freedom, which took effect in October.

Alves asserted that he had never met his accuser in a TV interview before his arrest. He later revised his account, however, after being detained, asserting that there was no assault and that there had been consent, and he is still maintaining his innocence.

However, he denies any s*xual assault despite having admitting to adultery with his wife.

Prior to the accuser’s claims that she had been slapped across the face and raped in the restroom becoming public, it was initially reported that Alves had been accused of placing his hands down the woman’s panties within the club.

Up to five judges, including the two investigating judges and three magistrates, have examined the evidence twice and come to the same judgment, according to El Periodico.

According to reports, there are a number of indications that support the victim’s claims and refute Alves’ earlier explanations.

Both in the sink and the cistern, the police discovered seven of the victim’s fingerprints.

Additionally, it is believed that footprints at the scene may have indicated a series of actions that correspond to the accuser’s two claims.

After seeing bail refused, Alves told Cuatro programme “En Boca de todos: Only two people know what happened and above all what didn’t happen.

“I am telling the truth. I think everyone understands that I tried to save my marriage and that’s why I said what I said in the first place.

“That was the only motive and I have nothing to hide. There is talk of infinite versions and I have only testified twice before the judge.

“I have been in prison since January 20 and I have still not been tried. It will be proven that I am not guilty and it was a consensual relationship.

“It would never cross my mind to impose a se*ual act on anyone.”

In a social media post, his wife appeared to reveal they were no longer together.

She wrote in a handwritten note that “here is a strong woman moving on to the next stage of her life” and that “it will take years to erase from my memory his way of looking at me.”
