Eid-ul-Maulud: Plateau gov calls for unity, peace

The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim Ummah in Plateau State and across Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid, which marks the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.

Maulud, the annual commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), is widely celebrated across northern Nigeria with processions, prayers, and community gatherings.

In a goodwill message on Friday, contained in a statement by the governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, Mutfwang called on the Muslim faithful to reflect on and emulate the noble virtues of the Prophet, peace, love, humility, tolerance, integrity, and compassion for all humanity.

He noted that the commemoration of Eid-ul-Mawlid presents a unique opportunity for the faithful to renew their relationship with the Almighty, strengthen bonds of brotherhood, and uphold the Prophet’s teachings of unity, peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and selfless service to humanity.

The governor urged the Muslim community to use this sacred period to pray fervently for enduring peace in Plateau State and Nigeria at large.

He also appealed to all citizens, regardless of religious or ethnic background, to support the government’s efforts in combating insecurity, fostering unity, and promoting national development.

“On behalf of the government and people of Plateau State, the governor prayed for divine grace to live by the Prophet’s exemplary life of sacrifice, courage, and unwavering faith”, the statement added.
