Ex-BBNaija Star Tacha Reveals Why She Relocated To UK

The former housemate of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija), Tacha Akide, has revealed the reasons behind her recent move to the UK.

On November 26, the reality TV personality made her move public. Tacha stated in an interview with British media personality Madame Joyce that she moved because of the poor salary in Nigeria’s influencer sector, which she said did not match the expensive cost of upholding the necessary lifestyle.

The reality star further stated that although she has “conquered” the Nigerian market, she is still open to local agreements provided they live up to her standards.

“I relocated to the UK because I have conquered the whole of the Nigerian market. Relocating to the UK doesn’t mean I’m not going to do Nigerian deals. If the offer is good, why not?” Tacha said.

“The influencing scene in Nigeria looks so beautiful, but behind the scenes, it’s not as beautiful as it seems because the money is poor. Someone would pay you N6 million, that’s around $3,000, for you to influence for six months and post two videos a month.

“The fee was the same when I left the Big Brother Naija show in 2019, but it made sense then. At least, you could book a plane ticket with it. But right now, $3,000 is nothing. N6 million seems good, but when you have to convert it to dollars, travel abroad, and spend money to look good, there’s nothing left.”

Tacha initially gained notoriety during the 2019 BBNaija season. She was eliminated for using physical violence against a housemate, which caused her time on the show to end early.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
