God Transcends Above All Human Experience And Knowledge

Exodus 3:1-6,9-12
Matthew 11:25-27

Apart from the three patriarchs of Israel-Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, one famous and very important person that stands out in the Old Testament was Moses. In exile, he encountered Jethro, the priest of Midian. He started a new life as a humble shepherd tending Jethro’s flock, who had now become his father in law. On one of his occasion of tending his flock, he came to Horeb and there, he saw a burning bush that was not burnt. This strange phenomenon was a way, God called him and made him the liberator of his people who were being been enslaved in Egypt. The Lord calls us in ways we cannot understand. In ways that we do not understand. That is why, the Lord tells us in today’s gospel, that He reveals himself to those who are little ones.

Who are the little ones? Those who are poor in spirit. Those who live by the virtue of humility. Those who are obedient to the Father. When God revealed himself to Moses in burning bush in today’s reading, Moses was instructed to carry out a sign of humility and total submission (taking off his sandals). God knew Moses and call him to one of the greatest mission in the history of the people of Israel. God’s call comes to us every moment of the day but do we allow the grace of His call to get to the center of our being and work in us? May the good Lord bless us and give us the grace to walk humbly in His sight. Amen.

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution.”
