Former President Goodluck Jonathan has urged Nigerians, particularly Christians, to follow in the footsteps of Jonah Jang, a former Governor of Plateau State who built a prayer altar to provide a convenient place for Christians to commune with God, highlighting that the act is significant and enlightening to all.
Jonathan, who was in Jos, Plateau State, on Friday for the dedication of the Yeshua Kingdom Foundation International’s 10 Commandments Prayer Altar, observed that the place of prayer can bring peace, prosperity, and harmony to the area.
Former Governor Jang is the President of the Yeshua Kingdom Foundation International, which is based in Doi in the Jos South local government region.
The former President asked individuals to consider what they want to be known for when they die and challenged everyone to do what they can in their corner to have a positive impact on humanity.
He said, “I want to thank the former governor for his vision of building this facility, this is very significant. As Christians, we pray anywhere but sometimes we need a convenient place to commune with God. This is just like going to the mountain to pray. This facility is for all Christians who need to use it for prayers. As a former governor, he has done many things but this is the most important thing.
“It is a lesson for us all, not everyone can mobilize resources to build this but in our little way, we can build prayer altars in different forms. This has taught us a big lesson and I ask myself, what will I do that person will remember me for?”
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who was represented by Pastor Seyi Malomo, Chaplain of the Aso Villa Chapel, asked that the altar of prayer be utilized to pray for national unity since “victory is our portion when we are united.”
Senator Jang previously stated that the facility is the realization of a vision he had some years ago and that its completion is in accordance with God’s plan so that generations across nations can be holistically disciple and transformed.
The Senator said, “The Bible is replete with instances where altars were built, … Each time there was an encounter with the Lord, an altar was built as a memorial of God’s visitation. This was a regular occurrence in the life of our father of faith, Abraham, and the generations that followed him”
Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong, who was represented by State Commissioner for Agriculture Hosea Finangwai said, “We will key in and continue to emulate your step of building Plateau State,” adding that the Senator is a vision carrier.
Rev. Dachollom Datiri, President of the Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN, who consecrated the facility, prayed that the body of Christ would witness unity as Christians gathered to pray.
As the building, which can hold over 5,000 people, was dedicated, Christian leaders from many denominations were there and delivered glowing praises.
