Hamas Attack: US Moves Warships Closer To Israel

The US claims to be sending a ship, a carrier, and jets to the eastern Mediterranean and to be providing Israel with more weapons and ammunition. It comes after what President Biden called an “unprecedented and appalling assault” by Hamas on southern Israel.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that the US was also attempting to confirm rumors that American citizens were among those who were killed and captured. According to Israel, there have been around 700 fatalities and 100 kidnappings.

According to Palestinian sources, at than 400 people have died in Gaza as a result of Israeli airstrikes in retaliation.

USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier, a missile cruiser, and four missile destroyers were on their way to the area, according to US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. The US would also send fighter jets.

The White House said that additional military help would be given to Israel in the upcoming days and stated that the US was working to prevent Israel’s opponents from trying to take advantage of the situation.

Ebrahim Raisi, the president of Iran, declared his support for the Hamas strike and demanded that Israel be held accountable for jeopardizing the region.

Hamas claims that Iran assisted in carrying out its offensive, which included missiles, drones, and militants using paragliders. Hundreds of fighters also managed to breach Israeli border defenses surrounding the Gaza Strip.

However, Iran has been assisting the Gaza-based group for years, according to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who said that the US had not seen any evidence of direct Iranian involvement.

“Hamas wouldn’t exist without the backing it has received from Iran throughout the years. As of now, there is no concrete proof that Iran was responsible for or engaged in this incident. However, the support over the years has been evident,” he told US TV.

Iran reportedly denied involvement in the attack on Israel at a UN Security Council meeting, according to Reuters.

Blinken added that authorities were investigating reports of US citizens being involved in the attack.

Several Americans are reportedly among the dead, according to sources. He informed the US, “
“We’ve got reports that several Americans are among the dead. We’re working very actively to verify those reports.”

There have also been recorded deaths in the UK, France, Ukraine, and Thailand, among other nations.

According to him, “This is a massive terrorist attack that is gunning down Israeli civilians in their towns, in their homes, and as we’ve seen so graphically, literally dragging people across the border with Gaza,” he said in an interview with ABC.

You can therefore understand the effect this is having across Israel. And what the world has witnessed should enrage it.

There are still hundreds of persons listed as missing. Hersh Golberg-Polin, a 23-year-old American-Israeli who was at the desert music event that the militants invaded, is one of them. According to his parents’ statements to the Jerusalem Post, he sent them two texts that said, “I love you” and “I’m sorry.”

Michael Herzog, Israel’s ambassador to the US, told CBS News that he believed Americans were among the soldiers and civilians kidnapped in southern Israel but he had no further information.

Each year, the US sends Israel, a close friend, billions of dollars in military assistance. Israel has received the most foreign aid from the US overall since World War Two.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
