Liverpool Extends Captain Henderson’s Contract

Liverpool football club has extended the contract with Captain Jordan Henderson the Premier League side said on Tuesday.

The new contract means Henderson will stay at Anfield until 2025 putting an end to speculation over his future at the Merseyside club.

Henderson who started playing with Liverpool in 2011 at the age of 31, has made nearly 400 appearance since, taking the captain’s armband in 2015. He has scored 30 goals and has led the club to their sixth Champions League crown in 2019 as well as winning the Premier League, Champions League and Club World Cup.

The great captain and a great on-field leader,‬ joined Liverpool from Sunderland.

“Every single season I’ve tried to improve and be better. I’ve given and will continue to give absolutely everything for this football club, the fans and my teammates. That will never change #YNWA,” Henderson wrote on Twitter.

“I’m obviously very honoured and proud to continue the journey I’ve already been on here.

“It’s amazing to finally get it done and just concentrate on looking forward and what the future may hold. I’m in a different place of course, as a player and as a person, from when I first walked in.

“I feel as hungry as ever. I feel as hungry as I did when I first walked in 10 years ago, to prove to people that I deserve to be at this football club and give absolutely everything every single day for the badge, for the fans and for each other in this building. If we do that, I feel as though we’ve got a good chance of being successful.”

Captain Henderson is the sixth first-team player to agree fresh terms with the club in recent weeks, following Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Alisson Becker, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson.

Liverpool are fifth in the standings after their 1-1 draw with Chelsea over the weekend. They travel to Leeds United on Sept. 12 when the league resumes after the international break.

Congrats Henderson!

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
