Man Spent £80k Fixing His Dentition After Cocaine Abuse

A man who had tooth problems for over two years says he spent £80,000 to cure them.

Danny Bennett’s dental difficulties began in March 2021, when his jaw became infected, necessitating the extraction of all of his teeth.

Danny, a 39-year-old former cocaine addict, claims that the drug destroyed his teeth in his 20s, so he opted to get them restored in his 30s.

The initial therapy in 2021 went well, but his jaw became infected.

The man contacted a different dentist, who told him he could redo his teeth after the infection was treated.

However, after numerous sessions in the UK, he was told that he would have to seek treatment elsewhere to correct his grin.

He claimed that after going public on TikTok, his teeth were corrected.

He said: ‘“It has been years of agony, pain, and mental torture. I still don’t understand how it all happened.

“I couldn’t even talk to people at work. I’d be in a heated discussion and my teeth would fall out.

“I have to laugh about it now but it was horrific – I’m still not fully in a good place mentally. It’s ruined me. It’s horrible.”

His nutrition had been limited to “soups, shakes, and soggy bread,” he added, while his romantic life was non-existent and he had very low self-esteem.

Danny said: “They looked and felt terrible.”

He travelled to Turkey in July 2022, but on the penultimate day of the fitting, he was informed that he had been fitted with teeth that were all joined together, rather than separately.

Danny said: “I kicked off. I don’t know why they did that and didn’t listen. I was furious.”

When he came home, he kept calling them, and they agreed to re-do the operation a few weeks later.

Danny said: “I got to the point where I was really upset but at least I could eat properly and actually use them.”

Danny brushed his teeth and went to bed three days after acquiring his second set of teeth, only to wake up to find they had all fallen out.

“I was in total panic,” the man said.

He then resorted to manually applying glue to his teeth, which he had to redo every three hours.

Danny said: “My mental health was awful, I had always suffered from anxiety, but this was making it even worse, my head was totally gone.”

He then resorted to manually applying glue to his teeth, which he had to redo every three hours.

As his mental health deteriorated, he posted a video outlining his plight and pleading with a dentist to take him on.

The video received 3 million views, and many people contacted the creator.

He was finally treated by Harley Private Dental in Sheffield, where he had to return every other week to have new, unique teeth installed.

Danny said: ‘I had to have lots of photos taken, preps for operations, x-rays, route canals, and have my gums pulled back.’

With the final operation three weeks ago, he now has individual crowns that don’t fall out and don’t pain.

‘I’m so glad it’s all over, but I think it will take years for me to feel fully myself again.’ he said.
