Miyetti Allah Slams Northern Govs And Emirs Discussing Political Power, Ignoring Northern’s Sufferings

Miyetti Allah’s Bauchi State Chapter. The Kautal Hore took a shot at the Northern Governors Forum and Emirs on Wednesday for their stance on the power change in 2023 but remained unconcerned about the plight of the Fulani tribe in the country.

Muhammad Hussaini, the group’s head, bemoaned the fact that the Kaduna meeting failed to recognize the humiliation that herders face on grazing reserves in the country’s southern regions, particularly by powers that infringe on their freedom of movement and assembly.

The Fulani herders’ meeting in Bauchi, which was held to review treatments meted out to their kin in the South, ended with Hussaini saying it was disappointing that the governors and emirs, who were representing the herders’ interests in the region, met to discuss regional issues without deliberating on their sufferings as Fulani herders. It is disheartening, Hussaini said.

He said that Fulani herders seeking greener pasture for their cattle were being humiliated, wounded, and even killed outright in the country’s southern regions, while their movements in the north were restricted, in violation of the Nigerian Constitution.

In his opinion, it was surprising that the northern governors and emirs were mainly concerned with political matters such as power shifts between the country’s regions, and not with the well-being of their people or subjects.

“Instead of the Northern governors showing concern to the forms of treatment or copulation on herders by the Southern governors, they simply sat and discussed issues of personal vendetta without recourse to the people they governed.

“For this, we condemn in totality the Northern Governors Forum meeting with Emirs in attendance. They sat to discuss their self-aggrandize motives leveraging on ways and means to enrich themselves to the impairment of the people,” Hussaini said.

He went on to say that the APC-led Federal Government was doing nothing to help the Fulani, particularly the nomadic herders, who he claimed were solely concerned with finding greener pastures for their livestock.
