Motherhood: Five Important Roles A Mother Plays In The Home 6

Hello Great Mothers! How are you doing?
Mothers play a huge role in their children’s lives, caring for them, loving them, and so much more. Most importantly, as a mother, you are the first teacher of your children. And the way a child develops can be largely attributed to the role that their parents and caregivers, especially the & mothers play in their lives. A mother is a teacher in every aspect of a child’s developmental growth – social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and independent.

Therefore, we must teach our children some basic values needed for their growth into a well-balanced adult. Some of these values have been discussed in my previous articles. We have discussed Honesty, Good Manners, Responsibility, Respect, Love, Consideration, and Perseverance.

Other values we need to teach our children are;
1)Courage
This value helps them to face their challenges or difficult tasks. We shouldn’t help them with all tasks, we must allow them to handle certain tasks themselves when it is challenging. Also, we must teach and encourage them to always speak up for themselves when they are not comfortable, or whenever. This will help them to ask questions when not cleared in class.

2)Justice
This helps them to know right and wrong in this whole world. It helps them to set things right when in the wrong.

3l Happiness
With this value, you teach your child to always be positive amid challenges and to always the good in everything, including people. You must let your child know when you are facing challenges and how you are staying positive in the challenges.

The best and simplest way to teach our children and teenagers well is by setting the right example by practicing what you preach. Live your values, don’t just talk about them with your kids.

Malcolm X said ‘The mother is the first teacher of the child. The message she gives that child, that child gives to the world.’/

What value are you teaching your child?
