Motherhood: Impatience In Parenting And Its Impacts on mothers And Children’s Growth 1

Hello great Mothers!

As discussed in my previous article, I will be discussing Impatient in parenting and its impacts on us mothers and our children’s development and growth.

Impatient, as described by the Oxford dictionary, is the act of having or showing a tendency to be quickly irritated or provoked.

-When raising children, who will one day reflect what we are like, then, patience is a virtue that must be developed and inculcated in them.
-When raising children and we want them to be balanced in all spheres of life, then patience is a virtue we must develop and inculcate in them.
-When raising children and we want them to show forth God’s glory anywhere/ in any situation they may find themselves in the future, then, patience is a virtue we must practice and inculcate in them.

As mothers, our expectations of our children increase as they grow. Oftentimes we expect them to understand us, or how we like certain things to be done or to be able to do some things themselves at a certain age. In most cases, these expectations result from what we think is best for them or what we see other children ( especially children of our friends), within their age range doing and so we want our children to do the same, or act the same way. We don’t always have the patience to listen to their views/. Their failure to meet up these expectations makes us feel irritated and we become angry and impatient with them.

At this stage, we must put our emotions under check and arm ourselves with tranquility and patience. Failure to do this will have negative effects on our children as they grow. Yeah! Because the more they grow, the more our expectations of them increase.

However, being impatient with our children has never helped them to be obedient, behave well, or do the things we want them to do. Rather it has made them become more aggressive, dependent, angry, etc. More of this will be discussed in my next article. Watch out!
