Motherhood: Patience In Parenting 9

Hello Great Mothers!

Patience is an important virtue that everyone who wishes to achieve greatness in life is encouraged to inculcate. Therefore, we are encouraged as mothers to practice and teach our children this great virtue. Why?

-We love our children, we want them to be great.
-We love our children and we want them to grow up to be balanced adults.
-We love our children, we want them to be psychologically, emotionally, and mentally balanced.
-We love our children, and we don’t want them to run off or back up from achieving their goals just because of challenges. We all know that sometimes, we pass through some hurdles in life to achieve greatness.

According to Joyce Meyer, Patience is not the ability to wait but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting.

The ability to be patient and maintain the right attitude ( without yelling or shouting or nagging) while teaching your precious child morals, how to tidy up his/her room, clean the dishes, and do other house chores, goes a long way to instill the same in them.

Though, oftentimes we lose our patience with our children, especially when they are disobedient, stubborn, or did not meet our expectations. So we get angry, allow our emotions to overpower us, and yell at them or over-discipline. The truth is that these actions have never helped our children but have had negative impacts on their growth.

According to Karen Bridbord, Ph.D., a psychologist certified by the Gottman Institute who specializes in relationships, parents do not proactively decide that if their children misbehave, they will lose it and yell hysterically at them. We are wired to react in this way. The term “amygdala hijacking” is used, according to Bridbord.

We have been discussing patience in parenting and its importance to our children’s growth. In my next article, I will discuss impatience in parenting and its impact on the growth of our children.

“A lot of companies have chosen to downsize, and maybe that was the right thing for them. We chose a different path. Our belief was that if we kept putting great products in front of customers, they would continue to open their wallets.”
