The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has reiterated that candidates sitting for the 2026 Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (SSCE) must possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN). This directive aims to ensure a seamless registration process and prevent last-minute challenges during the examination exercise.
According to NIMC’s guidelines, minors under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian with a valid NIN. Parents are required to present original birth certificates or statutory declarations of age at enrollment centers. The commission emphasizes that registration remains free at official centers and warns against unauthorized agents.
To facilitate registration, NIMC has decentralized its operations through the Ward Enrollment Strategy, bringing registration centers closer to communities. Parents can locate their nearest center via the NIMC website or toll-free line.
