Police Are Optimistic To Solve AKA’s Murder As The Country Continues To Look For Answers

After the award-winning rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes was killed, those who had been demanding for justice have new reason to be hopeful according to Police Minister; Bheki Cele.

Speaking to the media, Cele assured them that they would solve the case even if they were moving more slowly than the public had anticipated.

After collecting cell phones, he mentioned that there had been progress.

“Fortunately, I get briefed every day about this matter. It is a matter that we can’t get to rest. And unfortunately, we can’t give a blow-by-blow of what is happening, but the progress is absolutely there. We have collected a lot of cell phones that were working to download all kinds of things. That was the last I received. The progress is there, we acknowledge, but not at the speed that the community would have loved and the nation would have loved to see us react. But mark the space — we are cracking the case,” said Cele.

The hashtag #JusticeforAKA had been trending for weeks at this point, with many of his supporters clamoring for justice.

On February 10 in Durban, Forbes was fatally murdered outside the Wish eatery on Florida Road.

A few days after his death was confirmed, social media users began to circulate CCTV footage of the night he was killed, which led to rumors about his whereabouts.

His family has criticized the claims spread on social media stating that his admirers should honor his legacy by listening to his new music.

Concerns have also been raised about some of the tracks on his posthumous album, “Mass Country,” with some admirers believing the international performer may have foretold his demise. How the musician’s life ended is still a matter of conjecture because some songs on his 14-track record appear to be autobiographical.

The lyrics to one of AKA’s song reads:

“Okay, I cannot live here; I cannot sit still; 1 cannot rebuild; promises unfulfilled here; I don’t want to die ’cause if I go silent. Who go’n to feed all my children?

“Nothing feels real no more. How do I fill this hole in my spirit? I cannot hear clichés no more. Living my low life. What did you score me? I was on top of your pyramid; that’s when the pastor told me.

“If I’m getting killed, it’s them.“
