Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon says he doesn’t mind being a “house husband” if his wife ends up making more money than he does.
The movie star stated in an interview on the Tea With Tay podcast that if his wife were to become the main provider for the family, he would gladly give up acting to concentrate on taking care of them.
Regardless of conventional gender roles, he emphasized that his top priority is being “valuable” to his family and expressed comfort with such a relationship dynamic.
“I pray to God. My wife hits a business that earns between $1 million and $10 million per year. You won’t see me act again,” he said.
“I will become a house husband. I will take my children to school and even cook, despite not knowing how to. If there is money, I don’t mind being a house husband. If there is money? What are you doing again?
“I find that a lot of men are not comfortable with that dynamic, so they become hypersensitive and complain over little things.
“My only prayer is that, as a human being, regardless of gender, I should be valuable to my family.”
Deyemi Okanlawon’s openness to embracing the role of a house husband if his wife earns more highlights his progressive and supportive outlook on gender roles and partnerships. It reflects a willingness to prioritize love, teamwork, and mutual respect over traditional expectations, setting an inspiring example for modern relationships
