Family Arrested For Operating Gun Manufacturing Factory In Delta

A family of eight has been arrested by the Nigerian Army’s 63 Brigade for running a business in Delta State that produces weapons.

This was disclosed by Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, Commander of 63 Brigade, to reporters during a briefing at the illicit armaments factory located in the state’s Aniocha North Local Government Area at Onicha Olona.

Eight suspects connected to the family business were taken into custody at the plant, including the operation’s mastermind as well as his mother, father, and sister.

The weapons factory, which is situated in a forest, features a store of weapons and ammunition, a generating set that is connected from a distance, a surveillance post, and an iron melting furnace.

Ten firearms can be produced weekly by the manufacturer.

Unachukwu reported that the container, detonators, and shrapnels—all necessary for the production of improvised explosive devices, or IEDs—had been recovered by the army.

According to the brigadier general, a significant portion of the nation’s and the region’s insecurity is caused by the suspects’ activities.

Unachukwu said: “In this axis, it is only IPOB and Eastern Security Network that use improvised explosive devices and even drones.

“A normal AK-47 magazine carries 30 rounds, but this man is modifying an AK-47 magazine to carry 60 rounds.

“Anybody that is involved in an act of insurgency that is against the peace and stability of Nigeria, we will get to you.”

Emmanuel Eboka, the key suspect, who is 22 years old, acknowledged renting some of the weapons to criminals.

“When I repair it for them I don’t charge them, they just give me whatever is in their mind. I don’t charge them.

“My daddy said I should leave his veranda, because he is not comfortable with me being around his veranda that is why I shifted to this side (the forest).”

While acknowledging that they were aware of their son’s illicit activities, his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Ebokah, denied knowing that he was giving criminals weapons and ammunition.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
