CALLED TO A HIGHER RESPONSIBILITY
Saint Matthias holds a significant role in history, having been selected by the apostles before Pentecost to succeed Judas Iscariot, who took his own life following his act of betrayal against Jesus. In contemporary society, there exists a temptation to neglect the responsibilities conferred upon us by God, often manifesting as selfishness, greed, and betrayal.
This raises critical questions regarding our methods of appointing leaders. Are the rights of voters upheld? Are elections conducted with a sense of moral accountability or under the influence of societal pressures? God has chosen each of us out of love, and we must reciprocate this love. We must acknowledge that we serve as instruments in God’s design; He is the potter, and we are the clay.
