Motherhood: Gratitude – An Important Virtue Needed For Children’s Emotional Growth 3

Hello Great Mothers!

It appears that saying “thank you” really does have magical powers: According to research, gratitude has a profound impact on the brain. Gratitude exercises have been linked to a variety of positive outcomes, including increased self-esteem, better relationships, and less anxiety. Naturally, every mother desires to instill in their children a virtue like gratitude.

But how can mothers teach their children to be grateful in such a way that it becomes part of their personalities? And how can even small children ( toddlers) begin to understand the act of gratitude? Even though there are many ways to raise a nice and appreciative child, teaching them the act of gratitude is not always simple, but as loving mothers that we are, we must teach our children because of its many benefits.

Some ways that this can be done were discussed in my last article. Here are some other ways we can adopt:

Let them understand why they should always express gratitude:

Once your child starts saying “thank you”daily, it may be important to stretch a little deeper to make sure they aren’t just saying it because it’s expected in society. Start having discussions about what it means to be grateful and expand on their understanding of gratitude by adding more gratitude-related elements.

According to research, the majority of parents continue to concentrate on the acts of thankfulness that their kids exhibit. Although 85% of parents claimed To encourage their children to say “thank you,” just 39% urged kids to express gratitude in a way that went beyond politeness. Furthermore, only 33% of parents questioned their children about how receiving a present affected their emotions, and only 22% inquired about the motivation behind the gift, according to the survey.

To create a deeper sense of thankfulness in children, we are encouraged to teach our children and help them to understand the reason for saying gratitude.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
