Pakistan Nominates Trump For Nobel Peace Prize

Pakistan has officially put forward U.S. President Donald Trump as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize, highlighting his “decisive diplomatic intervention” during a perilous escalation between India and Pakistan earlier this year.

The Pakistani government praised Trump for his “pivotal leadership” in May, when a series of cross-border attacks sparked the most severe regional conflict between the two nuclear-armed countries since 1971. The violence resulted in dozens of deaths and raised concerns about the possibility of a wider war.

A ceasefire, facilitated by the U.S., was secured on May 8, as strikes persisted across the contested Kashmir region—a territory both India and Pakistan fully claim.

“At a moment of heightened regional turbulence, President Trump demonstrated great strategic foresight and stellar statesmanship through robust diplomatic engagement with both Islamabad and New Delhi,” Pakistan declared in an official statement.

The statement credited Trump with helping to “avert a broader conflict between the two nuclear states that would have had catastrophic consequences for millions of people in the region and beyond.”

“This intervention stands as a testament to his role as a genuine peacemaker and his commitment to conflict resolution through dialogue,” the statement further noted.

At the time, Indian and Pakistani officials provided conflicting narratives about how the truce was reached. Islamabad highlighted the significance of U.S. diplomacy, whereas New Delhi minimized Washington’s role, presenting the ceasefire as an outcome of direct bilateral negotiations.

According to Nobel Prize regulations, governments, specific institutions, and individuals are eligible to nominate living persons or active organizations for the Peace Prize. The Norwegian Nobel Committee makes the final decision.

Trump, who frequently presents himself as a global peacemaker, has previously criticized former President Joe Biden for failing to halt Israel’s offensive in Gaza and for mismanaging Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Currently, tensions are escalating again in the Middle East. Israel initiated widespread airstrikes on Iran on June 13, prompting retaliatory drone and missile strikes from Tehran. The week-long conflict has resulted in over 400 deaths in Iran, according to state media, and at least 24 in Israel.

Israel claims its strikes targeted nuclear facilities and senior military officials, while Iran has attacked both northern and southern Israeli regions in response.

Earlier this week, Trump set a two-week deadline to determine U.S. military involvement in the Iran conflict. On Friday, he reiterated his diplomatic successes while expressing doubt about receiving recognition for them.

“I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for stopping the war between India and Pakistan,” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform. “I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize no matter what I do—including Russia/Ukraine and Israel/Iran, whatever those outcomes may be.”

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
