Shatta Wale Vs Burna Boy: “This Is Very Disappointing, Settle And Make Peace,” Nigerian Music Executive Says

Akeju Abass, a Nigerian music executive based in the United States, has reacted to the recent feud between Nigerian music superstar Burna Boy and Ghanaian star Shatta Wale.

During a live concert in Ghana, the Ghanaian musician accused the Nigerian musicians of not loving and supporting their Ghanian counterparts.

Stonebwoy, a Ghanaian musician, has stated that while Shatta Wale’s approach is incorrect, his statement is true.

Wizkid, a popular singer, has also spoken on the comparison between Nigerian and Ghanaian artists, claiming that both sides are the same.

Shatta Wale slammed Nigerian musicians after selling out the Accra Sports Stadium for his music concert.

During the concert, he boasted that he didn’t need Nigerian musicians to fill Ghana’s largest stadium.

However, a very different response was seen from Nigerian star, Burna Boy, who accused Shatta Wale of promoting a destructive agenda and then suggested a one-on-one fight with him to put an end to it.

Shatta Wale thinking Burna was asking to compete in a freestyle battle got clarified by the Nigerian who stated that he is only interested in a physical fight between them and that he wants to see Ghanaian musicians’ teeth and blood on the floor.

Akeju, who recently launched Faces of Afrobeats, a campaign to honor African musicians, urged celebrities from both countries to focus on the positive aspects of promoting peace and unity in Africa.

“The recent rift between Ghanaian and Nigerian stars is really disappointing. Music is one of Africa’s biggest exports. We have international spotlight on us. This is time to preach peace and shouldn’t allow any form of disunity set in”, he said while speaking with Daily Post.

Grammy winner Angélique Kidjo, Burna Boy, Davido, Shatta Wale, Flavour, Psquare, Diamond Platnumz, Wizkid, Sarkodie, R2Beez, Simi, Yemi Alade, and others have all been featured in the Faces of Afrobeats campaign.

While highlighting the global impact of African music, Akeju also stated that Afrobeats has received a lot of positive feedback from music fans.

“Our artists are gaining international recognition. Almost everywhere you go in America, there’s a playlist for African songs. This is really encouraging and we must learn to appreciate them”, he said.
