Tottenham owner Joe Lewis has told chairman Daniel Levy he must sell Harry Kane if they can not get the England captain to sign a new £400,000-per-week contract at the club.
Kane won’t be let to finish out his current contract and go away for nothing when it expires next summer, according to Lewis. If Kane rejects fresh terms, which are rumored to be up to £400,000 a week, Levy would be under pressure to sell the England captain before the transfer deadline. Kane is valued at £100 million.
Bayern Munich is currently considering a third bid for Kane after having their first two offers for him rejected. Kane’s wife Kate is rumored to have looked at homes in Munich, and the German champions are optimistic that a deal may be reached.
Manchester United abandoned their interest in Tottenham early in the summer in favor of less expensive candidates like Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta and Randal Kolo Muani of Eintracht Frankfurt. Tottenham’s asking price was too high for Manchester United. United is prepared to make a formal offer to Hojlund and is extremely interested in him.
If Spurs are forced to sell, they might once again enter the competition for Kane, but United is not willing to overpay for a player who will turn 30 on Friday.
Anthony Martial, who missed a large portion of manager Erik ten Hag’s first season at Old Trafford due to injury, is also under the management of the boss. Martial is presently rehabilitating from a hamstring strain.
